A criminal case has been launched on the fact of kidnapping and physical pressure on public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev. Hajiyev himself informed Turan about this.
Today he was received by the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and he was informed that a criminal case had been opened under Art. 221.1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.
However, the activist doubts that the investigation will have results.
“I spent the whole day on all sorts of formal writing, writing statements, testimony. Only at five o’clock in the evening they took me to inspect the place where I was abducted,” Gadzhiev said.
He noted that almost four days had passed since the incident, but the police still had not looked at the records from surveillance cameras in the territory from which he was abducted.
“Of course, I do not expect that they will conduct an objective investigation, find and punish those responsible. Rather, everything will end as it was with my previous statements to the police, that is, to no avail,” Hajiyev said.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the information about the opening of a criminal case in connection with Hajiyev’s complaint.
Bakhtiyar Gadzhiev previously reported that on the evening of April 21 he was abducted by four masked men. According to the activist, he was taken to the suburbs of Baku, where he was subjected to humiliating treatment, demanding the removal of critical publications about the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and pro-government activist Fuad Muradov, and threatened with reprisal if he continued to criticize the minister.
