A young poet-satirist Ibrahim Khudayi (Khudiyev) living in the Salyan region was taken to the local police department on March 5.
He himself told Turan about this.
According to the poet, a “preventive conversation” was held with him in the district police department.
“They told me to write poetry about flowers and nature. The chief severely punished me not to write about the government or statesmen, after which I was released,” Khudai remarked sarcastically.
Khudai was born in the city of Salyan in 1990. He works for the local landscaping office, cleaning around the roads.
In Azerbaijan, satirical poets have come under pressure before. Mirza Sakit and Tofig Hasanli were convicted on charges of drug trafficking.
