[:en]The head of the press service of the Prison Service, Mehman Sadigov, said that Azad Hasanov, who is in the pre-trial detention center No. 1, has stopped his hunger strike.
A member of the opposition party Musavat Azad Hasanov began a hunger strike some days ago, protesting against illegal arrest.
He was detained upon returning home from Lithuania, where he lives in exile.
The Musavat Party, in a statement, noted that the real reason for the arrest was Hasanov’s political activities in exile.
* Hasanov has been in political emigration in Lithuania since 2014. On October 11, 2018, he returned to Baku due to a serious illness of his father and on the same day was arrested. He was charged according the Article 234.4.3 (drug trafficking on a large scale) of the Criminal Code. Human rights advocates recognized to his political prisoners.
