Baku Mayor’s Office refused to authorize a rally of a number of opposition parties, scheduled for February 29 in the center of the capital.
City Hall invited them to hold a meeting outside the city in the village of Lokbatan 15 km. from the center.
On February 24, the Musavat, REAL parties, as well as the D18 Movement initiated a protest rally against falsifications. They asked the city hall to allow the rally to be held in one of eight places in the center of the capital.
“The answer we received says that 7 of the places we proposed are in the areas of intensive transport and dense settlement. Holding an action in such places is not practical from a security point of view. As for the Mehsul stadium, it is under repair, so go to Lokbatan,” Ruslan Izzatli told Turan.
According to him, the organizers of the rally abandoned the idea of a rally in Lokbatan and will decide on the venue in the near future.
