[:en]The Baku Appeal Court rejected the complaint of a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Majlis of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Asif Yusifli, about the refusal of his release on parole.
The decision of the court is based on the negative characteristic given by the prison administration to Yusifli.
Yusifli himself said that he was reprimanded in October 2018 on an artificial pretext.
Karabakh war invalid Asif Yusifli was detained on November 25, 2014 on charges of fraud (article 178) and forgery of documents (article 320) of the Criminal Code.
On July 30, 2015, the court convicted him, sentencing him to 7.5 years in prison. Subsequently, the Supreme Court reduced the sentence to 6 years.
On May 29, 2019, the Surakhani District Court rejected the application of Yusifli for release on parole due to his serving of three-fourths of the term. Human rights activists recognize him as a political prisoner.
