Today, June 17, in the German city of Nuremberg, Azerbaijanis living in Europe held a protest action under the slogan Azerbaijan without Political Prisoners. Its participants demanded the release of social and political activists and journalists under arrest.

The action was organized by the European Musavat Coordination Center. According to the Azerbaijani emigrant Tural Sadygly, the action was held in protest against the illegal arrests in Azerbaijan.

"A lot of people have been arrested last month, and dozens of innocent political prisoners have been imprisoned for years. E.g. Ilgar Mammadov has celebrated his birthday in prison for five years. Europeans living in Europe protest against such lawlessness," he said.

About 50 Azerbaijanis took part in the protest action. The participants chanted the slogans Ilham Aliyev, Free Gezal Bayramli and Afgan Mukhtarli, Freedom to Bayram and Giyas, and Liberate Ilgar Mammadov.

The action lasted more than an hour.

In addition to Nuremberg, actions of the European Musavat Coordination Center took place in Frankfurt and Dortmund, in French Laval and Swedish Goteborg.

The European Musavat Coordination Center was established in Germany in 2015 and it was registered in 2016.

On 18 February this year, the Coordination Center held an action in Germany under the slogan Freedom to Political Prisoners. After this action, relatives of its participants and organizers were called to the police in Azerbaijan.

The former and current leaders of the Musavat party Isa Gambar and Arif Hajili, as well as the head of the executive apparatus of the party Gulaga Aslanli, were summoned to the Prosecutor General's Office and interrogated. (Turan)
