The European Court on Human Rights (ECHR) has today announced its decision on the case of member of the Party of People’s Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) Bahruz Hasanov. This was announced by lawyer Khalid Aghaliyev.
The complaint was filed in connection with the detention and administrative arrest of Hasanov in 2012 in line with paragraph 1 of Article 5 (right to liberty and personal security) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Note that Hasanov believes that his detention and arrest are arbitrary. In so doing, Hasanov also alleged a violation of his rights under Article 6 (right to fair trial) of the Convention.
The ECHR found that Hasanov’s rights under both Articles of the Convention had been violated and ordered to pay him compensation worth EUR 4,500.
Recall that Bahruz Hasanov was administratively arrested in 2012 for 10 days on false charge of disorderly conduct based on a complaint from a stranger who claimed he had been insulted by the oppositionist.
